The American Oak

A reputation gained in France through wine tasting and consistent, fine oak from Minnesota

Quality trees (Quercus alba, white oak), maturation in the open air for 26 months and just the right heating are what sets this high-quality, durable programme apart. This American oak instils a delicate, round and exotic flavour. Today, 95% of production managers in France who have tried Mendocino on red Bordeaux grape varieties have looked no further. Barrels (225 to 300L)

Mendocino

The French Oak

Getting back to the roots for an authentic, locally made Barrel

Rediscovering the benefits of small-scale production. Three coopers produce a limited number of 8 to 10 barrels a day. The rigorous selection of the best wood from the central region of France, drying in the open air, the intimacy of the workshop, the braziers fuelled with oak and straw, the time devoted just to producing quality wood… A human-sized workshop a far cry from the industrial world. Barrels (225 to 500L)

The European Oak

Adding a French touch to the historic forests of fine European oak

This programme combines hand split oaks dried for 2 years with intelligent manufacturing using effective brazier heating by a coopering partner from Cognac. These barrels’ production is watched over in keeping with traditional practices, where time matters. Patience pays off with a fairly powerful, balanced and relatively sweet fragrance that loses none of the fruitiness. Barrels (225 to 300L)

Wood and Inserts

Chips, staves, oak-powder, strips, barrel inserts … Alternative products can truly improve your wine by imparting perceptible organoleptic qualities : tannin structure, finesse and aromatic complexity, stable colour and sweetness. Vegetal notes are smoothed out while woody hints are added … The carefully thought-out use of these elements will genuinely enhance the quality of your wine. With these oak products, the optimum conditions for natural extraction and improvement, which until now have been achieved using new oak barrels, can be created, controlled and reproduced in a flexible manner.
